Busy few months for Thomas Interiors Electrical Department

We caught up with Thomas Interiors Senior Electrical Manager, Rob Arnold to discuss what the Thomas Interiors Electrical Team have been doing over the last few months.

The last few months have been very busy, with the team carrying out some excellent work for our clients. Rather than give you a long, exhaustive list, here is a summary of recent work and an overview of what we have been doing;

Terminal 4, Louis Vuitton Pop Up Unit:

Louis Vuitton have recently installed a Pop-Up Unit into the International Departures Lounge within Terminal 4. As Pop Up Units stand in the middle of the concourse, it is important that the design of the unit is striking and gets peoples attention. Along with design, Lighting is an important part of the appeal of these units and this installation was no different. The team installed the new LSFF cabling for each of the cabinets, along with the cash desk and we also rewired the light boxes so they conform to the current BS7671 and HAL regulations. The finished product is really striking and I’m sure that Louis Vuitton will do really well in their new unit.

T5b Be Relax:

We were instructed to re-wire the cabinets within the Be Relax Unit to bring them up to the current BS7671 and HAL regulations, whilst removing the existing supply which wired the signage at the front of the unit. Once installed we then wired and 2nd fixed the new Be Relax Signage which looks excellent.

Service Subway Tunnels:

Our ongoing working relationship with Trinity Fire Services continues to go well. We are currently working in the Service Subway Tunnels located beneath Terminal 3. The scope of our works is to carry out the installation of a new fire alarm system with point detection. Along with this work we are also carrying out the installation of a new linear heat system, which detects fire all along the cable of the Life Safety System. Due to the fact that we are working within a tunnel, the work is classified as Confined, meaning that we have had to send the team on Confined Space Training, to learn how to use Gas Detection Monitors, Breathing Apparatus and have also had to pass medicals to say that the team are fit to work in such an environment. This project is running until the end of October.

T4 Shell and Core Works:

It is always good to work alongside our Projects Team and carry out work that shows the full extent of the capabilities of the wide range of services that Thomas Interiors can offer. This project has seen the team remove a huge, open planned Restaurant/Coffee Shop with 3 separate retail units which will see 3 new shops opening within the terminal building. We have installed a new busbar system with 3 new, separate supplies to feed the newly formed retail units, removed old terminal lighting that was encroaching into the new spaces and have installed new DALI light fittings, to match the existing terminal lighting control system.

With more excellent work on the horizon we will have plenty more opportunity to provide further updates in the coming months. In the meantime I would like to thank our entire team for their efforts over the last few months.
