Successful handover of World Duty Free Collections Unit at Gatwick.

Thomas Interiors are delighted to announce the completion and handover of the World Duty Free Collections Unit at North Terminal, Gatwick Airport.

Working alongside our client Sideland Group, Thomas Interiors worked as Principal Contractor on the CAT B Fit Out of the 170 square metre retail unit, located in a busy International Departures Lounge.

The 7 week project saw members of the Thomas Interiors Team taking the unit from a shell and core provision and turning it into a striking Retail Unit, providing passengers with the ability to pre-order and purchase the many fragrancies, items of jewellery and  Designer Sunglasses that World Duty Free offer.

Neil Coleman – Senior Operations Manager for Thomas Interiors stated;

Working at Gatwick demands the very best from our team, whether it be the quality of our product, Airport compliance or Safety performance, GAL expect nothing other than the very best and that is why I always relish the opportunity to go to Sussex and show the team at GAL, the type of work that we are capable of producing. Last year we were lucky enough to work at Gatwick, carrying out strip out projects and shell and core work, so this project allowed us to show the quality of our workmanship, the team and I were very excited to get started.

 The project was full of challenges, from a very complicated ceiling installation, through to the co-ordination of various contractors working on behalf of the concessionaires that would be selling their products from the new unit. I am very pleased to say that the project went to programme and we managed to have the new Collections Unit open and trading on the agreed date, meaning that we had a very satisfied client.

 I would like to thank the team for their efforts, it is a job very well done!

 Bernie Thomas – Managing Director of Thomas Interiors concluded;

I have made no secret of my desire to do more work at Gatwick and the completion of the new WDF Collections Unit will do much to enhance our reputation there. I would like to echo Neil’s sentiments and thank the team for their hard work and dedication to this project and look forward to working with the team from Sideland and Gatwick Airport again in the future.
